Why have a separate page for Suicide Prevention & Safety?
Unfortunately, the answer is simply that the groups represented here have a higher rate of suicide and victimization than do "straights" in our society. This page will at times carry useful information on local and regional concerns that affect the lives and health of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, and the Transgendered. But for now, we'll keep this simple.
If you find that you are in an emergency situation DIAL 911.
However, if you find you are needing to talk with trained and certified Moderators, there are two sites in particular that may be helpful to you. Sometimes talking with someone about your problems is just what the doctor ordered. So if you need help, don't hesitate to reach out!
The Trevor Project operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. If you or a friend are feeling lost or alone call The Trevor Helpline.866-488-7386.
